El objetivo de la investigación consistió en evaluar los indicadores de calidad física de los suelos, en unidades productivas de la Agricultura Urbana del municipio Habana del Este. Los indicadores analizados fueron: humedad natural e higroscópica, densidad aparente y real, porosidad total, composición granulométrica, estabilidad de agregados e índice de estabilidad estructural. Se realizó un análisis de componentes principales para determinar las propiedades de mayor incidencia en la calidad física. Los Cocos, El Cachón y el Vivero Organopónico Alamar presentaron humedades higroscópicas bajas, lo que dificulta el almacenamiento del agua en los microporos y la circulación del agua y el aire en los macroporos; sin embargo, en Los Pinos y Biointensivo fue alta, lo cual les confiere buenas condiciones físicas y por tanto, una mayor productividad. Se evidenció un índice de estabilidad medio, lo que les proporciona una menor erosión hídrica ante condiciones climáticas adversas. Los indicadores que más influyeron en el comportamiento físico fueron la humedad higroscópica, la densidad aparente y la porosidad total; propiedades que establecen la relación aire/agua y la estructura. Se demostró que, aunque la densidad real como medida de la fertilidad influye de forma positiva sobre las propiedades nutricionales, ésta no determina la calidad física, por lo que puede ser manejada en el proceso productivo. One of the biggest problems in the tropic is the degradation of the soils in areas of intensive agriculture, this causes the decrease of the productive capacity. The aim had to evaluate the indicators of physical quality of the soils, in productive units of the Urban Agriculture of the municipality Habana del Este. The analyzed indicators were: the natural and hygroscopic humidity, bulk and real densities, total porosity, distribution and hydric resistance of the aggregates, index of structural stability. It was carried out an analysis of main components to determine the properties of more incidence in the physical quality. Los Cocos, Cachon and Vivero Organoponic Alamar presented low humidity hygroscopic, what hinders the storage of the water in the microspores and the circulation of the water and the air in the macrospores; however, in Los Pinos and Biointensivo it was high, that which confers them good physical conditions and therefore, a bigger productivity. An index of stability means was evidenced, what provides them a smaller hydric erosion before adverse climatic conditions. The indicators that more influenced in the physical behavior were the hygroscopic humidity, the bulk density and the total porosity; properties that establish the relationship air/water and the structure. It was demonstrated that although the real density as measure of the fertility influences in a positive way about the nutritional properties, this doesn't determine the physical quality, for what can be managed in the productive process.
