La utilización de Heterorhabditis indica en el control de plagas en las condiciones del sur de Artemisa, Cuba Utilization of Heterorhabitis indica for pest control in the conditions of south Artemisa, Cuba Hernández, Martha R. Ortega, Pedro Ortíz, Mario Áreas, Mirelvys entomopathogen Heterorhabditis control Heterorhabditis entomopatógeno control El nematodo Heterorhabditis indica ha sido descrito como parásito de insectos que se agrupan en diferentes familias. Se caracteriza por presentar alta capacidad de búsqueda y movilidad, habilidad para introducir la bacteria simbionte en el insecto, alta adaptación a nuevos ambientes y condiciones adversas e inocuidad al hombre y otros mamíferos; pueden ser fácilmente aplicados en condiciones de campo, lo que permite su empleo como bioplaguicida. Se utilizó la cepa P2M de H. indica como parte del control integrado que se realiza en plantaciones de guayaba en asocio con aguacate y otros frutales; además en plantaciones de col, malanga, maíz, y Casas de Cultivos Protegidos. Los trabajos se realizaron en la UCTB, Alquízar, Finca “Sierra Maestra” de la CCS Ubaldo Díaz Fuentes, CCS “Antero Regalado”, CPA “Niceto Pérez” y áreas de Productores Particulares. Las evaluaciones mensuales en plantaciones de frutales pudieron determinar que después de seis meses aparecen sólo entre el 40-50% de gallerias muertas por H: indica, además de observarse un número mayor de plantas con síntomas de afectaciones por coleópteros. Estos resultados demuestran que el ciclo de aplicación del entomopatógeno debe realizarse cada seis meses. El control estimado en un 85% sobre la polilla de la col y la palomilla del maíz; la disminución de las afectaciones producidas por fitonematodos en malanga, así como el control eficiente que realiza sobre crisomélidos que afectan el cultivo del boniato, ponen de manifiesto nuevos caminos en la utilización del entomopatógeno H. indica. The Heterorhabditis indica nematode has been described as parasite of insects grouped in different families. It presents high capacity of search and mobility, skill to introduce the simbiont bacterium in the insect, high adaptation to new environments and adverse conditions and innocuousness to man and other mammalians; it can be easily applied in field conditions, which permits its employment as biopesticide. It was used the P2M strain of H. indica as part of the integrated control carried out in guava plantations in association with avocado and other fruit trees; moreover in plantations of cabbage, taro, corn, rice and houses of protected cultivations. The works were carried out in the UCTB Alquízar, Finca `Sierra Maestra` of the CCS `Ubaldo Díaz Fuentes`, CCS `Antero Regalado`, CPA `Niceto Pérez` and areas of particular producers. The monthly evaluations in fruit trees plantations permit to decide that after six months it appears only between 40-50% of the galleries for H. indica, besides observing a major number of plants with symptoms of affectations by coleoptera. These results demonstrate that the cycle of application of the entomopathogen must be carried out each six months. The estimated control in a 85% on the diamond black moth of the cabbage and the corn moth; the diminution of the affectations produced by phytonematodes in taro, grape, as well as the efficient control it carries out on chrysomelidae that affect the cultivation of sweet potato, show new roads in the use of the entomopathogen H. indica.
