Capsicum baccatum L., especie nativa, naturalizada o introducida en Cuba Capsicum baccatum L., native, naturalized or introduced specie in Cuba. Se realizó la revisión de la literatura en las que se referían y/o describían especies y cultivares de C. baccatum. Se examinó la descripción morfológica de los cultivares identificados como C. baccatum, que estaban conservados ex situ y se consultaron muestras de herbarios. Se realizaron pesquisas en huertos y mercados con la finalidad de obtener información sobre la posible introducción, producción y manejo de cultivares de la especie. Se presume que C. baccatum no es una especie nativa ni naturalizada en la Isla, la confusión pudo estar fundamentada en la desacertada clasificación del taxón Pimpiniche o en la similitud de la tonalidad de la corola de otras especies del complejo. Se actualizó la clasificación taxonómica de 13 cultivares que habían sido reportados como C. baccatum, de ellos seis de C. frutescens, cuatro de C. annuum y tres de C. chinense. C. baccatum es de reciente introducción en Cuba, fueron detectados dos cultivares (Ají ventilador y Ají campana) en mercados y sistemas tradicionales de producción. The possible presence of C. baccatum in Cuba has been reported from the XVIII century to final of XX century. The revision of literature that referred and described the species and cultivars of C. baccatum were made, and also examined the morphologic identified description of these cultivares that were ex situ conserved and the revisión the samples of herbariums. Investigations came true at home gardens and markets with the purpose to obtain information about the possible introduction, production and management of these cultivars. That suppose C baccatum is not a native species neither naturalized in the Island, the confusion could be well-founded in the missed classification of the taxon Pimpiniche, or in the similitude of tonality of the corolla with another species of the complex. An updated the taxonomic classification of 13 cultivars that had been reported like C. baccatum, six belong of C frutescens, four of C annuum and three of C chinense. C. baccatum comes from recent introduction in Cuba, two cultivares (Ají ventilador y Ají campana) in markets and production traditional systems were detected.
