Guía para la identificación de los taxones de la colección nacional del género Capsicum (ajíes y pimientos) del banco de germoplasma del INIFAT Guide for the identification of the taxa national collection of the Capsicum genus (peppers) of the INIFAT genebank Barrios Gobín, Odalys Fuentes Fiallo, Víctor González Alvarez, Alejandro Acuña Fernández, Gloria Abreu Hernández, Sergio de Armas Morejón, Dalila flowers fruits taxa flores frutos taxones En el manejo del germoplasma de ajíes y pimientos la diferenciación se hace más necesaria entre los cultivares que entre las especies, ya que, en una sola especie se reúnen frutos de muy variadas formas, tamaños, colores y sabores. Se describen los caracteres morfológicos de las hojas, flores y los frutos más distintivos de los cultivares de Capsicum de Cuba, así como los usos de cada taxón. Se muestran además ilustraciones y referencias del registro del herbario del INIFAT para cada uno de ellos. Vale señalar que los cultivares que conforman la colección ex situ suman un total de 40, de los cuales 13 pertenecen a C. annuum, cinco a C. frutescens, 12 a C. chinense, uno a C. baccatum y nueve ¨cultivares locales híbridos¨, surgidos a partir de la hibridación espontánea entre y dentro de las especies del complejo Capsicum. In the handling of the germplasm of peppers the differentiation is more necessary among the cultivars than among the species, since, in a single species they are fruits with a large variety of shapes, sizes, colors and flavors. The morphological characters of the leaves, flowers and the most distinctive fruits in the cultivars of Capsicum of Cuba are described, as well as the uses of each taxon. They are also shown illustrations and references of the registration of the herbarium of the INIFAT for each one of them. It is worth to point out that the cultivars present in the collection ex situ adds a total of 40, which 13 belong to C. annuum, five to C. frutescens, 12 to C. chinense, one to C. baccatum and nine “hybrids local cultivars”, obtained from the spontaneous hybridization among and inside the species of the Capsicum complex.
