Las especies domesticadas y silvestres del género Capsicum L. en Cuba The domesticated and wild species of Capsicum L. genus in Cuba Barrios Govín, Odalys Fuentes, Víctor Acuña Fernández, Gloria Abreu Enríquez, Sergio de Armas Morejón, Dalila Capsicum Cuba taxa Capsicum Cuba taxones Tomando en cuenta que la identificación de las especies de Capsicum presentes en Cuba ha resultado tradicionalmente confusa y que no existe una obra actualizada que posibilite la correcta identificación de sus taxones y en la que se reconozcan con certeza, las especies presentes en el país, se realizó una revisión de las publicaciones en que se relacionan especies y/o cultivares de Capsicum para Cuba, junto al análisis de la colección nacional del género, conservada en el banco de germoplasma del Instituto de Investigaciones Fundamentales en Agricultura Tropical “Alejandro de Humboldt” (INIFAT), compuesta por 382 accesiones adquiridas entre 1982 y 1993, a través de programas de colecta y estudios de conservación in situ, realizados entre 1999 y 2007. Con los resultados de la caracterización morfológica y el apoyo de las claves dicotómicas de especies domesticadas y silvestres elaboradas para el género, se identificó y/o actualizó la nomenclatura de los taxones de Capsicum que habían sido referidos para Cuba, así como aquellos que conforman en la actualidad la colección nacional de Capsicum. Se identificó la presencia en el país, de cuatro especies conformadas por 28 taxones: 23 domesticados, 2 silvestres y 3 semidomesticados. Las especies son: C. annuum L. var. annuum (domesticado), C. annuum var. glabriusculum (Dun.) Heiser & Pickersgill (silvestre), C. frutescens L. (domesticado, semidomesticado y silvestre) y C. chinense Jacq. (domesticado y semidomesticado). The identification of species of Capsicum present in Cuba has been traditionally confused, and there is not a current work that makes possible the correct identification of its taxa and the possibility of knowing in fact, the species present in Cuba. It was carried out a bibliographical search that embraced all articles with the list of species and/or cultivated varieties of Capsicum for Cuba, it was also analyzed the national collection of Capsicum conserved at Institute of Fundamental Research on Tropical Agriculture genebank. This collection is composed by 382 accessions acquired though collection programs (1982-1993) and in situ conservation studies (1999-2007). With the results of the morphological characterization carried out in this collection and the support of dichotomist keys for domesticated and wild species elaborated for this genus, it was identified and /or up to date the nomenclature of the taxa of Capsicum that has been referred for Cuba, just as those that conform the national collection at present. The study allowed to identify the presence of four species in Cuba, conformed by 28 taxa: 23 domesticated, 2 wild and 3 semidomesticated. The species are: C. annuum L. var. annuum (domesticated), C. annuum var. glabriusculum (Dun.) Heiser & Pickersgill (wild), C. frutescens L. (domesticated, semidomesticated and wild) and C. chinense Jacq. (domesticated and semidomesticated.).
