In vitro behavior of cultivars of garlic (Allium sativum L.) under saline stress conditions
Main Article Content
Abstract
In Cuba it has be develop Allium sativum L. (garlic) cultivars, obtained from genetic improvement. The proof that these materials be able to tolerate the effects of the salinization of soils does not exist. The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of salinity in Cubans cultivars, under in vitro conditions to be able to determine the garlic promissory materials, so much for his utilization, as for itinsertion in futures genetic improving programs. We used four garlic crops in six treatments with different concentrations of NaCl. The experiment was maintained 21 days, underphotoperiod’s conditions and temperature stable. We calculated the inhibition of the growth and the index of stress for a level of electric conductivity of 9.03 dSm. Was determined the lethal half level to the saline stress, by means of morphologic characteristics and the development of the biomass of leaves and of the system radicular. All cultivars find themselves in a range of they tolerate for recently Saline grounds, underneath the 7.5 dSm.
