Characterization of the soil of urban spaces in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality

Abstract
The use of urban spaces through multifunctional approach is vital to reducing the pressure caused by the urban development, as a strategy for the sustainability of the city. The densely populated Plaza de la Revolución municipality with a high urban infrastructure is inserted in the urban agriculture plan of the city. The aim of the thesis was to characterize and evaluate the quality of urban land in this locality through the using of soil indicators in situ, by qualitative and quantitative methods. The morphological characterization of the studied profiles provided information for the new classification of urban soils, criteria for the management system are shown in correspondence with the characteristics of each space and the qualitative evaluation shows that all the profiles present an acceptable quality to establish different subprograms of Urban Agriculture and contribute to others. In addition, the communitarian development and the urban environment were emphasized to benefit the way of life in municipality.
