Main Article Content
Abstract
The former Agronomic Experimental Station of Santiago de Las Vegas (current INIFAT) conducted relevant researches in matter of coffee cultivation in Sierra del Rosario during the first three decades of the XX Century. By means of bibliographic and archives revision, there was documented the relation between the institution and the agrarian landscapes of Sierra del Rosario while identifying scientific and extensionist actions of some of its notable researchers. Publications and extensionist actions rediscovered for the period, reveal the commitment of the scientist of the institution in fomenting and specializing coffee production, while promoting crop diversification and identification of social problems of peasantry. Results reveal some agroecological features of the agrarian landscapes at Sierra del Rosario, which is relevant for the comprehension of the environmental history of the region.
