'Laura' new pepper variety (Capsicum annuum L.) for Cuba

Abstract
The description of ´Laura´ new pepper variety (Capsicum annuum L.) adapted to conditions of high temperatureIt was carried out. The cultivar has been developed by the Engineer Laura Muñoz de Con, like part of the program of genetic improvement for hybridization of three commercial cultivars. The cultivar it characterized by present an approximate height of plant 70 cm. The fruits have a high content of brix in mature fruit with average level of 8.25 % oscillating among 6-11 %. Longitude of the fruit between 7-12 cm and width of 8.1 cm and weight of a fruit 49.8 g (between 30 and 70 g). The average number of seeds for fruit was 128. It presents a high density to leaf cover and it protects the fruit of the sun scald. The fruit number per plant in a period of four months was 14.3 (oscillating among 10-22). The potential of fruit yield was between 8,0 -19.5 t.ha-1.
