Local agri-food value chains and their relationship with agrarian policies in Cuba

Abstract
The consolidation of local agri-food value chains and its relationship with national legal norms met through the systematization of experiences of the Support Proyect for Sustainable Agriculture in Cuba (PAAS). These practices have been references for the elaboration of the Law of Food Sovereignty, Food and Nutritional Security, in which the application of the management model in local value chain and its analysis based on the identification of the risks that threaten its good performance. It also provided tools such as agroecological certification through Participatory Guarantee System that have been considered an adequate alternative for the local context. It is also shown that the new public policies promote local agricultural development, with emphasis on the new regulations on the form of land management, as well as those related to food quality and safety, marketing, the development of small agro-industry that allowed minimizing the levels of losses of fruits and vegetables in the field and the use of renewable energy sources, among the most relevant.
