Abstract

An increment of plant productivity for different agricultural cultivations has been achieved through the application of the plant growth promoter VIUSID® agro. This completely natural product can be used for ecological agriculture, in spite of that there is no references of its employment for forage plants. Cattle mass feeding in Cuba is supported mainly for the use of pastures and forages, and the grasses has an essential paper. The Mulatto grass (Brachiaria hybrid cv. Mulato II) is the first variety of hybrid Brachiaria in the world forage market. It is considered superior for quality and productivity, and it offers high yields of meat and milk under tropical clime, even in small land surfaces. It is able to produce forage the whole year and it tolerates the drought. The objective of the work was to evaluate the growth stimulation in Mulatto II grass when VIUSID® agro is applied. The experimental design was blocks randomized with divided parcels and three replications. It was measured the height (cm), covered area (%), number of plant / lineal m and the yield (t/ha). The statistical analyses were carried out with the package SPSS/PC 15.0 version for Windows. When the stimulant natural VIUSID®agro was applied all the compared measures showed statistical differences (P <0,05) for the different evaluated moments (30, 60, 90 and 120 days). Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the product (1 mg/5 L H2O) may stimulate the yield in field, and therefore, the food procurement for the livestock under clean conditions of production.
