Existence of fruit´s species in courtyards and orchards from five municipalities of the province Cienfuegos

Abstract
With the objective to determinate the existence of fruit´s species in courtyards and orchards from five municipalities of the province Cienfuegos, was developed that investigation during the time from January 2006 to May 2012, in the municipalities of Cienfuegos, Cumanayagua, Palmira, Cruces and Abreus. Where make 645 survey in courtyards with different categories in the Urban Agricultural Movement and also another farmers, courtyard´s owner and employee of the Urban Agricultural in the studied territory. The results meet to find 113 species of fruits, belonging to 38 botanical families; the investigations revealed the existence of five species and eight common name´s non reported in the consult´s material and that the municipality of Cienfuegos, have the mayor biodiversity. The mango (Mangifera indica, L.), result the more cultivated fruit, found in the 75 % of the courtyards, followed by guava (Psidium guajaba, L.), with 68 % and avocado (Persea americana, Mill), in 61 %. Is determinate the existence of an important group of fruits represented by alone specimen, in danger to disappear because of the man´s action or meteorological phenomena. At the end of the work, is make a catalog that show prints and information about the fruits found, as a contribution to increment ate the knowledge about the found fruit.
