Abstract

´Caujerí 2170 ´is a new variety of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) opaque black-seeded. The variety presents a growth II b habit of, arbustive (shrub-like), undetermined growth, with erect stem and branches, an intermediate cycle to harvest of 82-86 days. The variety was obtained by the masal selection method from a collected accession of INIFAT’s Germplasm Bank. The selection was conducted onthe basis of yield components, uniformity at harvest and aptitude for mechanization, with height of inferior pods higher than 10 cm from the ground. This cultivar was evaluated in experimental conditions from 1998 to 2002. During the period between 2003 to 2015was evaluated in relation to commercial varieties ´Cuba C 25 9 N´ and ´Güira 89´ both with opaque black grains. The behavior were evaluated at Artemisa, Mayabeque, La Habana, Ciego de Ávila and Sancti Spíritus provinces, showing tolerance to rust (Uromyces phaseoli ) and common mosaic virus (CBMV) and potential yields of 2-2,5 ton/ha.
