Characterization of Bacillus subtilis’s strains with potential for biological products elaboration

Abstract
The Bacillus genus and among it the B. subtilis species are known worldwide by its ability to produce antagonist substances. Therefore, the identification of strains potentially useful for bioproduct elaboration is of great importance for agriculture. In this paper 5 strains maintained over Agar medium on the INIFAT collection were identified as B. subtilis after 14 physiological-biochemical tests, the macromorphological description of colony growth over Nutrient Agar and Granand spore tintion. The growth curve show the possibility of reproducing them in optimized honey medium on which they can produce metabolites with bactericide activity against Xanthomonas campestris. Strains identified as A 9 and INIFAT-101 maintained this behaviour despite the use of sterile products. Since these strains are also compatible with Azotobacter chroococcum bacteria they are consider promissory strains to search integral strategies of crop management combining biological control and biofertilizer.
