Abstract

At "Liliana Dimitrova" Horticultural Research Institute, belonging to the Ministry of the Agriculture, located at 22o23' North latitude and 82º23´West longitude in Quivicán Municipality in Havana province, 11 meters above sea level, parents and F1 generations from S. lycopersicum, L. x S. pimpinellifolium, L and S. lycopersicum x S. lycopersicum var. cerasiforme were planted in March of the 2010, under protected cultivation conditions. The objective of this work was to study hieratic effects for soluble solids contents and fruit size in tomato and the adaptation of both populations to protected cultivation conditions. The study of heterosis enabled to identify hybrid combinations showing a better behaviour than their cultivar of origin, regarding many important characters for the producer, reaching the biggest values on number of fruits per plant, number of clusters per plant as yield components, as well as, fruit setting in the combination between S. lycopersicum with S. Pimpinellifolium, considering this attribute as a heat resistant character.
