Abstract

The core collection is composed of representative sample of the base collection variability, with a minimum redundancy. It took as initial point the information of characterization and evaluation of 255 accessions and 22 morfoagronomic characters of the base collection. It proposed the following working methodology: 1ro. Factorial Correspondences Analysis to select the more importance characters (13 characters). 2do. Clusters Analysis with the 13 selected characters, using the Ward´s cluster, which generated a dendrogram with eight classes. 3ro. Selection of the species (Capsicum annuum-chinense-frutescens) in each class (193 accessions) and selection of the cultivars inside the species in each class (139 accessions). 4to. Selection of the accessions quantity for each cultivars, one kept in mind: participation of the breeder in the selection process; agronomic attributes and use; virus (TEV) incidence, strange variability, genetic erosion and geographical origin (83 accessions). 5to. To check the appropriate selection of the accessiones with use the molecular diversity approaches (Dice genetic distance), to corroborate accessions disimilarities (50 accessions). 6to. To check the representativeness varibility of the core collection/base colletion, using the Dhiwan coefficients and Spearman correlation. 7mo. Capsicum core collection composed by 50 accessions that it indicates that 20% of the base collection contains enough variability to form the core collection.
