Contribution of the meteorology to agricultural sustainability from a bioclimatic perspective
Main Article Content
Abstract
The climate is an environmental factor of high relevance in agronomic, livestock, veterinary, ecological, environmental risks, human health, etc. The understanding of the meteorology related to sustainable agricultural purposes is very important for the productivity and efficiency of the agrarian zones. The objective of the work was to analyze the use of meteorological data to contribute to agricultural sustainability from a bioclimatic perspective. The results of more than 100 publications of specialized journals, books, repository of master's and doctoral theses, internet documents, reports, scientific events, among others, about the importance of meteorological and climatic information for the planning of the agricultural production systems, were analyzed. There were found evidences of the need to expand the use of agrometeorological forecasts to obtain good harvests, and to keep high-productivity animal husbandry. To know the potential of each region related to climate change was analyzed, also the geospatial distribution of natural resources in a territory was considered. It is concluded that meteorology is a key factor for agricultural zoning. This process helps the land use planning, and it is considered essential to an adequate management of natural resources and to preserve nature, thus sustainable local development is promoted.
