Functional relationship between the leaf area and the dry weight of pepper plants (Capsicum annuum L.) grown in greenhouse

Abstract
The trend of the relationship between the leaf area and the leaf dry weight was studied in pepper plants (Capsicum annuum, L.) cultivars LICAL and ESPAÑOL 16, managed from transplant to the onset of fruiting under greenhouse conditions. It was found that the relationship between both variables can be expressed by second order exponential equations. The different trend found between cultivars is attributed to the differences in morphology and plant architecture, although some physiological indicators admit a similar interpretation. The parameters studied can be used for modelling the leaf area by means of the dry weight.
