Abstract

In order to analyze the variability of yields and its components in F2 generations of crosses between commercials and wild tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum x Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme) a principal components analyses per cross, were made, with the purpose of study the general variability inside of the crosses and to know the most important indexes in it. The results showed that the bigger part of variability in the yield and its components (98-99%) in the five crosses is concentrated in the thirds first components, being the third component the little contribution. The fruits characters: diameter, high and average weight were in the first component the higher weight with near of 62-67% and in the second one were the yield components. In the third component had higher weight to 1 and 2 crosses the yield per se and the average fruit weight and the fruit high in the 3 and 4. In the 5 cross fruit diameter was the higher weight. The principal components analyses facilitated the simultaneous work selection because in the 135 selected genotypes joints the characteristics where the maximum variability were induces due to fruits characters mainly and in the second place in the yield characters which are more different between its parents.
