Abstract

In the introduction and extended use of environmentally technologies appropriate assimilation has existed on the part of the urban cooperativistas. The objective of this work is to know the appropriation degree from the farmers about Tailor Made BioTechnologies (TMBT), with the determination of the social factors in the adoption and in situ training of these technologies of low inputs. They were carried out case studies in 12 intensive gardens and two organoponics in six cooperatives of two “Consejo Popular” located in urban areas of the “Santiago de las Vegas”, Havana City. To study the social characterization of the cooperativistas eight variables were selected and were carried out in Analysis of Main Components to identify the different groups of people according to the analyzed social variables. The appropriation of the TMBT was diagnosed on the part of the farmers through a guide of interview semi-structured and the data were processed through a distribution of frequencies. The rural cooperativistas that participated in the study recognized the importance of the use of the BHM by means of the training in situ, that which contributed to the economic, environmental and social improvement of these entities. For the first time is carried out in Cuba a work with the farmers where the biotechnologies in an integrated way are used, giving answer to the necessities of each town and the scenario of each cooperative to achieve the sustainability, what constitutes a contribution of new knowledge.
