Diversity of bacteria associated with common bean and its potential for use in agriculture
Main Article Content
Abstract
Common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) have a big demand in America. Different countries use plant growth promoting bacteria in its agronomic management. These microorganisms activate different mechanisms to increase plant productivity. One of microorganisms more studied for the relation with legumes are rizobios. Nevertheless, there are other bacteria that could have a positive effect in this vegetable species. With the aim to use with more efficiency common bean microbiome, in the present study were isolated bacteria from inside the plant, nodules, and rhizosphere of 10 accessions and five commercial varieties. It was evaluated over in vitro conditions the potential to fix atmospheric nitrogen, to solubilize nutrients and to resist abiotic stress conditions for 18 bacteria. In general, it was demonstrated the existence of different bacteria associated to this vegetable species in number, morpho-physiological characteristics and potential to plant growth promotion, mainly to nutrient solubilization. Although select microorganisms growth in presence of PEG 6000 and 3 % of NaCl, it was important the behavior of three of them associated with commercial varieties by its tolerance to abiotic stress conditions. The research shows the microbial diversity associated with common beans and its potential as plant growth promoters, an important element to obtain new biofertilizers for this vegetable species.
