Methodology for the assessment and reduction of food loss and waste at the local level

Abstract
A methodology for the evaluation and reduction of food losses and waste at the local level is presenter as support for the implementation of the food sovereignty and nutritional education plan in the municipalities of Cuba. Five steps are establish for its execution, which include raising awareness, training facilitators in post-production, the diagnosis of the local agri-food system and the proposal of a systemic strategy. The methodology takes into account the application of some elements of the system approach in combination with the application of the risk approach in value chains.
