Conocimiento tradicional asociado a cultivares locales de Capsicum (ajíes y pimientos) en Cuba

Abstract
The colleting mission in Cuba, have demonstrated the preserved riches of Capsicum genetic resources in the rural communities. As a contribution to the knowledge of the Ethnobotany of Capsicum species in Cuba, a study has been developed comprising such aspects as common names, popular speech, toponymy, etymology; main uses given in the country to species: human food, medicinal, magical, and ornamental.The range of names the cultivares were assigned to is wide and diverse, 70 common names were compiled; 17 were not registered of them. The cultivares are used of nine different manners and were detected three local unusual preparation with the species C. chinense and C. frutescens.
