Evaluating the environmental impact in the production of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) in greenhouse system
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present investigation was made with the objective of evaluating the environmental impact generated in the production of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.), at Tropical Model House of cultivation of 900 m2 located in Cumanayagua, Cienfuegos's province. The methodology Life´s Cycle Analysis was applied according to the standard ISO 14040, during the period from September 2011 to April 2012. SimaPro used the Environmental model of Study´s Center for the evaluation of environmental impact generated by cultivation developed at the University of Leiden and the information-technology program 7.1. The most affected category of environmental impact during the cycle of cultivation of tomato was ecotoxical´s potential in marine ecosystems with a 62.44 %. Taking into consideration the supplies related to the production of tomato, nylon causes more damage at ecotoxical´s category in ecosistems, undervalue in 37.69 %, and in daily supplies used at cultivation maneuver, pesticides and organically generate a bigger impact in the ecotoxical´s categories in ecosistems and the global heating.
