Previous experience of the food sovereignty and nutrition education plan

Abstract
Food security and sovereignty are extremely important State policies. As a result of these policies, various laws and strategies have emerged, such as the Food Sovereignty and Nutrition Education Plan, whose objective is to transform the production and food patterns of Cuban society. In this plan, it is evident the influence of numerous previous experiences related to the transition from conventional agriculture to sustainable agriculture in Cuba. Examples of these experiences are the delivery of land in usufruct, the Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture Program, the Municipal Self-Supply Program, the Agroecological Movement from Peasant to Peasant of the National Association of Small Farmers, and the National Plant Genetic Resources Program. This paper characterizes these antecedents and their influence on the plan. The influence of these antecedents, which mostly constitute solutions to the crisis of the special period, is observed mainly in the elements that make up the components of the plan.
