Social impact of the flower of Jamaica on the population settlement CAI "Pablo Noriega" municipality Quivicán

Abstract
La Flor de Jamaica or Sereni (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.), has food and medicinal properties, coupled with its ease of cultivation make it an agroecological alternative in Urban and Suburban Agriculture for a population that demands every day natural products that improve their health status and whose production is in harmony with the environment. Precisely in Urban Agriculture, the subprogram "Little agribusiness" so that contributes to the utilization of by-products was designed; contribute to processing possible seasonal local surpluses or other and encourage local manufacture of durable foodstuffs, thus contributing to raising the quality of popular power. For the above diagnosis in order to introduce the cultivation of yawl in the population settlement CAI "Pablo Noriega" the municipality Quivicán was performed. As a result of this work has produced a developed a training program on the advantages of this crop for producers and consumers, which allowed an introduction and effective validation of the crop.
