Main Article Content
Abstract
As part of the activities of the component three of the UNEP/GEF project “Agricultural Biodiversity and Man and the Biosphere Reserves in Cuba: Bridging Managed and Natural Landscapes” the alternatives for the commercialization of the rich diversity conserved by these communities were studied. Surveys were applied to 90 families in some 15 communities of the Reserves that it included information related with the products obtained in their farms, the use and the way that they had for the commercialization. The results reflect that the main ways for the commercialization of the products of the agrobiodiversity in the Biosphere Reserves are the creation and/or strength of points of sale of the AU/ASU in areas the nearest possible to their farms; the inclusion of the farmers in the option of the direct sale to the tourism incorporating them to the tourist circuits of the area; to facilitate the access to the market through the direct sales of the natural and elaborated products and to strengthen some of the existent mini industry in the cooperatives of the involved communities. The agricultural biodiversity conserved by the farmers is a fundamental link for the sustainability of many families.
